My sister picked up some canning jars for me that I had never heard of… I was a little hesitant to even bother with them but it’s harvest season and I was in a pickle and needed jars in a bad way.. we live out in the country so going to town is not a hop skip and jump away.. it’s half day affair. I can see why she bought them they are much cheaper and her not being a gardener harvester person she doesn’t pay attention to where products are made or the quality. I opened the box and three of the 12 jars were cracked on the bottoms and lids don’t go on with ease.. I boxed them back up and made the trip to town. Thank you for your website! I was about to buy canning lids from Temu and decided to check where those lids were made. It was China! I was also relieved to find my Harvest lids that I buy on sale at the dollar store when they go on sale were American made. I see quality of canning lids a supply chain risk. Can you imagine if every jar canned by the American public didn’t seal or worse yet went bad within a few months? Especially during a food shortage…it would be devestating!
I am canner and dread the day all of our canning supplies are made in China. I hope that day never comes. We have to support American manufacturing and let brands know we chose them for the Made in the USA label. Happy canning!
