As we were working on directories for walk-behind lawn mowers made in the USA and riding mowers made in the USA, it occurred to us, you might have questions about where the engines are made too. Are the engines made in the USA? Where are Briggs & Stratton engines manufactured? Who manufactures Honda engines? Is KOHLER engine American made? Are Kawasaki engines made in the USA? Where are Perkins engines made? Who manufactures Vanguard engines?

American Made Engines

Honda’s small engines are produced in five manufacturing facilities. Plants are located in the United States, Japan, Italy, Thailand, and China. The GC/GCV series and GS/GSV series engines are made in the USA in North Carolina. Honda is based in Tokyo, Japan with Honda Power Equipment headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Engines for the U.S. market are primarily sourced from the U.S., Japan, and Thailand.

Kawasaki engines are made in the USA in Marysville, Missouri with its manufacturing base located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Kawasaki is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Kawasaki makes engines for Ariens, Bad Boy Mowers, Big Dog Mower Company, Bobcat, Country Clipper, Cub Cadet, Dixie Chopper, Encore Power Equipment, Exmark, Gravely, Husqvarna, Hustler, Kubota, SCAG Power Equipment, Spartan Mowers, Stinger Equipment, Swisher, Toro, and Wright.
Most Kawasaki engines are assembled from foreign and domestic parts at the Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp., U.S.A. (KMM) at its plant in Missouri.

KOHLER diesel, gasoline, alternative fuel, and marine engines are made in Mississippi and Wisconsin with parts made in China. KOHLER has made engines for the lawn and garden, commercial and industrial, agricultural, and construction markets for nearly a century. Yes, it’s the same KOHLER known for kitchen faucets and other plumbing fixtures.
Owned by Caterpillar, Perkins makes industrial open power units, industrial diesel engines, electric power engines for generators, and marine engines. Perkins engines are made in the USA, China, India, and the UK.
Backed by Briggs & Stratton, Vanguard manufactures single cylinder engines, horizontal and vertical V-twin engines, commercial V-twin engines, and battery packs.
