Ride On Lawn Mowers Made in the USA

Don came in frustrated, reaching for a glass of water, “That’s it! I’m buying a riding mower this week!” He’s had enough of pushing the lawnmower across our bumpy, spring-fed lawn twice a week and I could tell he was serious. The push mower is nearly a decade old and we’ve put it through the ringer. It chokes and stalls every couple of feet. We’re a decade older too. I can’t push it through our lawn anymore and it’s self-propelled. He sat down for a break and took a breath. “I know. I have a choice between John Deere, John Deere, and John Deere”, he teased. I know there are other riding lawn mowers made in the USA, but I’ve always kind of had my heart set on that green and yellow tractor.

“There are other lawnmowers made in the USA”, I told him.

“I thought you wanted a John Deere?” He actually went to buy me one for Christmas a couple of years ago but at the last minute, decided I might knock him with one of my Lodge cast iron pans if he made a purchase that big without consulting me. He brought the paperwork and brochure home for discussion. Good call, honey.

We decided against the purchase but now it’s time. When it comes to spending money, especially this much, I’m reasonable. Most of the time. Since we’re about to make a big purchase on a mower, we really need to look at our needs, and compare our American-made ride-on lawnmower options. Since I was doing it anyway, it was the perfect time to create this list of riding lawn mowers made in the USA.

If you’re in the market for a USA-made walk-behind lawn mower, I took care of those too.

  1. Is it not possible for your site or any source to rank the quality of the parts, and what percentage of the parts on a riding mower are made in America. Tell me please if the riding mowers are actually really made in Saudi Arabia, England, “the UK” or are they just rip-offs. They do not answer the advertised telephone numbers.

We are American consumers that generally only have access to the same information everyone else does. I wish I had a big team around here to help me bang down doors and write letters but we’re just a little family who cares about buying American.
